Thumbs Up Chinese Restaurant-- Hot Pot

Imagine all of your families gather around a small pot filled with flavorful soup base; you are boiling meats, vegetables or whatever you like in the pot; white steams raise from the pot. Does this scene seem comfortable and warm in the winter? Now you have a chance to make it become true!

Thumbs Up Chinese Restaurant is a well-known Hot Pot chain restaurant in China. There are more than 400 hundreds Franchisees of Thumb Up Chinese Restaurant in China. Around one year ago, this famous restaurant came to Edison, NJ.

The experienced chefs here create traditional Chinese dishes using fresh ingredients. Although they have delectable appetizer, seafood, and noodles, my favorite dish is always the Chongqing Hot Pot.

The poor boatmen created the hotpot since it is easy and cheap. Then it spreads quickly in China and even the world. Hotpot is noted for its peppery and hot taste, but if you are not a spicy person, you could always choose salty, sweet or sour flavor pot. Yuanyang pot is highly recommended! It is a double flavors pot with both spicy and salty taste, so you can try some hot flavor to challenge yourself.

There are different kinds of food that you can choose to put in the hotpot, such as slice mutton, beef slice, vermicelli made from bean starch, and fish ball. If you like vegetable, you can choose Garland Chrysanthemum (a leaf herb), potato, cabbage and so on.

This restaurant provides private party room for all occasions, so it is a good place for business lunch, birthday party and so on. You could contact them at 732-640-2080 to make the reservation.

  1. Hotpot is the best food for winter. I've only been to this place once, but everything was delicious, especially the vermicelli(flat noodle made out of sweet potato powder). I will definitely go again.

  2. That is exactly what I missed. It looks pretty close to "real Chinese food", and the price is ok. Is this restuarant a Sichuan/Chongqing style or is it a mixed style?

    1. It is Chongqing hotpot, but the food is Sichuan Cuisine. Except the hotpot, they also serve different kinds of Chuan cuisine. Dandan noodle is worth to try!
